What we believe
Scripture alone is the final authority. Everything taught here stands or falls by it, including everything on this page.
We hold the Second London Baptist Confession of 1689 as our confession of faith. A confession is not a second Bible and it does not sit above Scripture. It is the church writing down, carefully and in public, what it understands Scripture to teach, so that anyone can hold the two side by side and check. We would rather tell you where we stand than let you work it out halfway through a video.
We also teach Keach's Catechism, which puts the same doctrine into questions and answers short enough for a family to learn together.
In short
- The Bible is the word of God, sufficient and without error, and the final judge of every teaching.
- There is one God in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, crucified for sinners, raised bodily, and coming again.
- Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone.
- Baptism is for those who believe, by immersion, and it follows faith rather than producing it.
- The church is gathered, local, and governed by Christ through his word.
How we hold it
Confessional and welcoming are not opposites. Plenty of people watching will not agree with all of the above, and some will be working out what they think for the first time. You are welcome here. We are not going to hide what we believe to keep you watching, and we are not going to be unkind to people who see it differently.
Where Christians have long disagreed, we will say so and tell you where we land rather than pretending the question is settled. Where Scripture is plain, we will be plain.
What this site is not
This is a teaching channel, not a church. It cannot baptise you, know you, correct you or sit with you in trouble. If these videos are useful to you, the next step is a local church that preaches the Bible, not more videos.
